Today's Walk

Today was cloudy. Perfect for photographying without the harsh sun light. As much as I love photographing flower I have to admit I know very little about flower names. Simply enjoy them. I first started my tour at the Southeast exterior corner of the McMillan Greenhouse. About this time of the year I find this area full of life and new growth. There is always something new. Maybe a flower is about to open or the bees have found their summer playground. Where there are flowers, there will be butterflies, insects and what have you. More photographing opportunity. If you come bring a telephoto lens cause some areas you can't get close to.

After the McMillan Greenhouse I headed to the Vanlandingham Garden which is down from the McMillan Greenhouse. My first stop in the garden was the pond. With most of the student population gone for the summer it was very peaceful and quiet with the exception of the man-made miniature pond and the birds singing. Once in a while you can hear a student passing by. It has been about 2 weeks since I visited this area of the garden. What a big change in scenery. The iris flowers around the miniature pond was about 70 percent completed in their Spring show. There were purple, white and pink iris flowers all around. I took out my camera but had a tough time deciding which one to photograph first. They all were so pleasing to the view finder. The water lilly pads too had began to cover the water surface of the miniature pond. Like always, I cup my hands together and grab some water from the pond and began sprinkling the water on the iris flowers. This is one way to add intensity to a flower making it look as if a shower has just passed by.

After the pond I headed towards the sloped area of the garden towards the East. Looked around and didn't see much happening.
